Portable Apps

oreo_masta mentioned portable IE. Well, there's a lot more portable apps than that.

Most are open source, because you can redistribute them ready to run. :)

Someone from my database class found a nice package of portable apps at http://portableapps.com/. The suite installs to your USB drive. Just plug in into a Windows computer to get Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice.org, Gaim, and others, as well as the data on your drive.

I've got a mirror of the portable installer up at http://csclub.stthomas.edu/pub/portableapps/.

That was a poorly titled

That was a poorly titled article. That IE7 thing is not portable because you need administrative privileges to install a required DLL to the system. I'll re-title the post "Standalone IE7"

In regard to PortableApps... it's my lifeline in the library when I need my favorite apps :)
