Suggestion: Re-Designing the CS Club's Website
Hello All,
This is Preethi. I was thinking about this and thought of letting you guys know. How about if we redesign the Computer Science Club website to look more beautiful. We can change the left hand panel to contain tabs which would look nice. Also we can work on beautiful color schemas..
What do you guys think ?
Please let me know...Thanks

Have you themed in Drupal?
Do you know how to theme Drupal? A redesign has been proposed... but you need to know how to handle Drupal's php-template first. Here's a look at Drupal's theming guide, http://drupal.org/node/509. php-template is actually pretty easy to use. I just wanted to clarify that this is a dynamic site and proper theming encounters an additional layer of complexity with that.
The color schema is mostly inspired by other UST colors -- http://www.stthomas.edu/hr/ for an example.
Also keep in mind we'll be moving to Drupal 5.x in a few months. So the theme so it can't break when that transition is made. We also prefer the site to be light-weight, which is does a good job of now.
Additionally, I think the
Additionally, I think the site needs content more than it needs a theme right now. Sections like General Info and OSS at UST could use some good content.
Any members who attend a meeting and express interest in editing for the website, we can set them up with an editing account. That way we can get members to help post content too. A previous offer for that was extended here: http://csclub.stthomas.edu/node/37 and the offer is still open :)
Yes, content is good! We can
Yes, content is good! We can set you up if you have ideas.
The tabs idea would be pretty nice, I've seen it used very sucessfully. There isn't all that much space off to the side, maybe tabs accross the top? Kind of like the main links section is now, CS Club Home | QMCS Department | University of St Thomas.
I really could use tips on how to reorganize the menu, currently off to the left. Mostly I just come up with an idea, throw it on a page, and throw it the menu somewhwere. Currently the account stuff and the content is all jumbled together.
I won't have time to implment this redesign, so someone with web development skills might have to come forward.
