Portable Apps
oreo_masta mentioned portable IE. Well, there's a lot more portable apps than that.
Most are open source, because you can redistribute them ready to run. :)
Someone from my database class found a nice package of portable apps at http://portableapps.com/. The suite installs to your USB drive. Just plug in into a Windows computer to get Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice.org, Gaim, and others, as well as the data on your drive.
I've got a mirror of the portable installer up at http://csclub.stthomas.edu/pub/portableapps/.
UST OpenCD no longer needed?
Well... we started the UST OpenCD during a lull in the official OpenCD's development. The OpenCD project just released v4.0 of its CD and the product is much improved over v3.0. Unlike v3.0 the Live Ubuntu Linux isn't bundled on the CD anymore. It's just open source Windows apps, like our UST OpenCD was.
With more room on the CD they added more programs like we did on ours. Here's the official list of programs.
They now have all the software on their CD which we have on ours except VLC media player. I would suggest that we discontinue our fork, the UST OpenCD and instead focus our efforts and contribute to the official OpenCD project.
One of the great things about open source software and development is that when there's something you don't like... you can change it, like we did. That also means that when there are two projects doing the exact same thing... it's wise to merge those projects, as not to spin our wheels.
